The mailbox was Haldeman!
I think everyone's just giving him the "oof, that's unfortunate timing" free pass.
Yeah, it can be a mixed bag. It generally is a lot less intense than places like Town, though, so it could be a good place to ease yourself in before you move on to things like the monthly gay parties (such as Mixtape) that are also really fun but might bring out your "drink way too much" reaction if you're not yet…
Hey! As a fellow gay guy in DC who also moved to the area at 23, here's some advice:
I'm about two degrees of separation away from Ryan, and apparently it was just a perfect storm of terribleness. Obviously the clues didn't fall his way (although obviously there were plenty he should have known), and then it was a new day of taping after his great run the day before and he had barely slept from being…
Yeah - credit to Bill, he seemed very ready for it to be wrong and was genuinely shocked they accepted it.
It came to me pretty quickly, but I had to work backward for it - came up with backlash based on the latter half of the clue and was like "oh yeah, backslash!"
I found this to be a really overstuffed premiere and didn't get much of a sense of anyone. The only people I really remember with any clarity (who are still in it) are the spat-out pork belly guy and the woman from Virginia who said she was intimidated by everyone.
I'm going to brunch with my girlfriends! I hope we can sit outside!
Sure, but it's still a legitimate complaint. I'm not blaming it on Bono.
The non-deletability (at first) is what was really irritating. Great, it's a gift, but you can get rid of most gifts.
If you liked Moon Safari you'll probably like Talkie Walkie. I didn't care much for 10,000 Hz Legend either, but this album got me right back into Air.
Aww, I was gonna share this story. Isn't that just terrific though?
I get what you're saying, but your use of the word "normal" here is pretty unfortunate. There's nothing to be ashamed of if you are a flamboyant gay guy, and I'm glad we've had those types as well as more subdued guys on the show in its many seasons.
One thing I've always wondered about Moonvest is if he was supposed to be a reference to Moondog or not. Moondog was this famous NYC homeless man who dressed as a Viking and also composed music, and if you look at pictures of him, Moonvest really isn't that far off appearance-wise?
Yeah, that's not the AV Club. Get some antivirus software.
Yeah, I still love all the acts you list (and I'd throw in Miss Kittin as well). Electroclash was a blast.
Loving this album so far, and it really is true that Nancy is the star of the show this time around. I really wanted to like The Future Will Come more than I did but the male vocals just weren't right for the music.
Yeah, E2-E4 is great working music, I find. I especially like when the guitar comes in about halfway through.
