Yeah, they’re basically like high-quality legging thickness with a little more stretch. I remember the relief at discovering this as a young fledgling figure skater because I didn’t understand how their legs always looked so flawless on TV. Turns out it’s just really thick flesh-colored tights! ;)

Her tights are probably fine, but I was also wondering how she laced her skates. Having both skated as a kid and had stupid-long nails as a teen/adult, those things would be a major hassle (and IMHO, not worth it, but to each her own – they were eye-catching, at least!).

It’s a matter of personal preference, but most figure skaters wear tights that are a little thicker than normal streetwear tights. You want to keep warm and, if the ice is a little rough in places, prevent ice burn and/or snagging if you fall and slide. So her tights are probably fine.

That’s the part that gave me heartburn: the components score similarity between Rippon and Kolyada. The world *did not* need another half-baked rock and roll program from a male skater, whereas Adam’s program felt really vibrant, fresh, and authentic.

But how do you put on tights and lace your skates with nails like that? Reason why I gave up wearing hose is I would ruin each pair the first time I put them on with my very short nails.

I thought she was SO pretty when she came on the screen. Then she danced beautifully too. I root for Team USA but it’s hard to deny the sheer depth of talent Canada’s ice skating and ice dancers bring to the table.
