Congrats on getting into a 401k early—best thing I ever did. I was able to borrow against it to buy my first house (condo), which I sold in February after nearly 15 years and was able to pay off $40,000 in debt I had. It feels tremendous, especially since most of my suicidal thoughts centered around money. Bottom

I love the Lego ship-in-a-bottle. Do you think kids have the patience to build models these days? I remember my brother and I doing it with my dad. So many tiny parts, such slow (and sticky) glue.

Reading Marc Maron’s latest book, Waiting for the Punch. Really good.

My parents LIVE for Aldi—and I can see why. So cheap! My dad bought a bag of lemons the other day, a whole BAG. Jeez Louise! “Dad, I like lemons, but holy shit, how are the three of us going to eat all these lemons?” Answer: sangria.

“Black Panther” has officially crossed a billion dollars in worldwide box office. A BILLION! I don’t know why, exactly, but I find that number sooooo wonderful and heartening. That, and the news on Jezebel about inclusion riders becoming a real way for Hollywood elite to wield effectively their enormous power is

Perfect gif. Also, the idea of you meticulously sorting all those tiny resistors is extremely inspirational to me. Kudos!

She WAS sewn in though—at least that’s what the commentators said. And it still ripped/broke/opened (I don’t know what to call it). Sometimes wildly athletic moves are just wildly athletic.

Or AT LEAST in silver to match her Swarovski crystals. I really don’t get the nude shade of his shirt. It makes no sense.

My parents are EXACTLY the same with commercials. Exactly the same. They drive me nuts—but in a cute way.

My mother, a 70-year-old white woman, saw “Black Panther” with her dear friend, a 60-year-old white woman, today—in Florida, of all places. They loved it. That’s saying something. I’m so proud of them.

I teach 16-year-olds, and they are definitely not emotionally mature in any way. Their changing bodies only serve to further confuse them—at least in my observation.

I’m so happy for Corey. To me, he’s like the Rose McGowan of the boy set. He kept crying out, and no one was listening.

So simple; so perfect.

Luther Vandross has the voice of an angel. (That is all I have to add to this conversation, but it’s worth saying. Love him!)

The book (MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL) is so much better than the movie. I highly recommend it, especially if you grew up down South (as I did).

I’m pro-Gabriel Byrne in anything.

Asiago...heaven. Mmm!

Hear, hear! Thank you for this article, Monique. I, too, discovered I got mine from my mom’s (Scottish) grandmother.

Or just, you know, spend that party money giving everyone an extra holiday bonus. Even $50 or $100 in an envelope is going to feel good to people at the holidays.

The female leads of “Fantastic Beasts” were pretty great as well, especially Alison Sudol as Queenie. Her sweet, flirty rapport with Dan Fogler (as good-natured, portly baker Jacob Kowalski) was lovely. But Katherine Waterson and Samantha Morton were no slouches either. Waterston was earnest and intelligent, and
