I use the term “cereal dust” for the same idea in cereal boxes.

I read that as “Santa Claus.” Totally different reaction.
I am in a similar situation, so I have no answers. But I wanted you to know you’re not alone.
I say leave it. It’s pretty. :)
I did a litany of 60s stuff with my 8th graders last year to ground them in the pieces we read by MLK and Malcolm X (in lit class). We also covered the women’s movement, the space race, Vietnam (we read about and visited the wall), and a lot of WWII and post WWII study. And this wasn’t in a particulary good school, so…
Also, they’re embarrassing us in their math and science scores—at least in terms of standardized testing. Plus, most of my European friends have PhDs and speak multiple languages, so there’s that too. Additionally, they can usually point to other countries on a map. :(
Plus, very expensive stadiums already burden taxpayers enough—why add even more cost? Just be careful and control yourself when you attend a ballgame. Problem solved.
Your heart was in the right place. I think that counts for something.
Re-reading IN COLD BLOOD and THE BELL JAR. Dreary mood, I guess.
I learned to say “no” a lot. Some people feel like your friends won’t accept this, but my feeling is that they’re not your friends if they won’t. I, too, am low-key and just don’t buy in to all the wedding/engagement hype—or any kind of party hype really (Halloween, New Year’s, I’m looking at you). It’s just not the…
You mean a steam room (wet heat), not a sauna (dry heat), but other than that you’re correct. Natural fabrics (cotton et al.) are your friend.
I grew up in the South. The cities are generally ok. You do you.
“And that’s why we all focus so much on ‘these are the standards we want to meet’ and lets meet them.”
Byrd’s neck injury occurred while I was in college—at a BIG football school. So his injury made a huge impact on me and my friends. I am sad to learn of today’s news.
Hmm... “dating in person and sites are hell”—is there really any other way? I mean, you’re either dating in person or online, so... ??? Thus, what you’re saying seems to be “dating is hell.” Well, yes, yes it is. For both sexes. Since you mention “earning [your] degree,” I wonder if you’re just out of school. I…
I don’t have any answers but a question: Are there any activities that get you out of negative headspace? Sports interests, music, hobbies, etc.? There is pretty much a Meetup.com for everything if you live in a city (which I assume maybe you do as an actor). Sometimes it’s cathartic just to immerse yourself in things…
If you have any time, maybe try some volunteer tutoring and/or volunteer at a local literacy program or library. You might meet some helpful folks w/ contacts. Also, join a book club. In my experience, there are usually smart people involved who are writers/editors/educators themselves—or like to talk about those…
I don’t agree all Trump supporters are deplorable. I know at least 5 friends voting for him who are non-deplorable. They are all college-educated (an eye dr, a nurse, a salesman, a teacher, and a graphic designer). Of course, all of them are white. So while you couldn’t pay me a million dollars to vote for him, I’m…
Ha! I like the cute way she’s hiding in the foliage.
That looks amazing!
