Because there’s a big difference between “breaking the law” and “committing a crime.” It’s against the law to hang an air freshener on your rear view mirror, but a cop who pulls you over can’t arrest you and throw you in jail for it. This is the difference between a civil violation and a crime; both are “breaking the

It’s a cowardly action. When other mayors are standing up against President Trump’s unlawful orders and calling them out as rightful unconstitutional and illegal, Mayor Gimenez has decided to cave in and allow the practice of detaining immigrants at the “request” of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This practice

Trump’s plan is to tie us up all in court for the next four years? So nothing proactive can be accomplished? How many arbitrary Executive Orders have been mandated?

It’s never made it out of committee, even during the various years when Republicans controlled both houses. I’m not saying it’s 100% certainty that the same will happen this year, but there’s really no reason to think it has much of a chance.

AFAICT it never even made it out of committee in 2015, when the House was already redder than a baboon’s ass.

You could use your brains for a second and compare how those came to be with how a bill is passed.

While this certainly fits with the nationalist tone of our new administation, I just want to be “that guy” and point out that this exact same bill has been introduced to every new Congress for the last 20 years. We all need to be alert, but this may not be the harbinger of doom that it appears to be at first glance.

By most accounts, Trump’s MO is to scream about you in public but then be super conciliatory towards you in person. Even people who he has singled out as villains say he’s not the least bit confrontational or angry when you interact with him one-on-one.

She’s an intelligent person who has spent the majority of her adult life in public service. In terms of virtue and decency, she wouldn’t have much competition from the vast majority of former presidents, low a bar as that might be.

I don’t know, man. After Nixon’s embarrassing resignation, the Republicans still controlled the Executive Branch for 14 of the next 20 years.

Their voters have proven that they’ll vote Republican no matter what valid criticism can be lobbed at the party. They just did this.

I feel like we can eventually undo any over conservative ideologies that may get implemented but we’ll never be able to reconstruct our atomized remains after a hydrogen bomb is dropped directly on to our collective faces.

You... you thought Michael Gambon was better than Richard Harris??...

Nobody embraces deprecation better.

Not that I am aware of. Nor does he claim to “destroy” anything, articles written about his segments are the ones that love to use that terminology (including Jezebel).

Bourbon is definitely a whiskey, it’s an American whiskey. Rye can definitely be a good whiskey. Stop being elitist.

It’s only impeachable if the Republican-controlled House votes to say it is impeachable.

Receiving money from a foreign government is, in fact, an impeachable offense under the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution.

Isn’t it fun that liberals get the narrative “Be a grown up and accept the results, and also be nice to all the Trump supporters- it’s your elitism that alienated them in the first place”, while conservatives get “PC culture is over! Say whatever you want when you want! Fuck those libtards!” Good times, yall.

It’s been interesting watching Twitter after the press conference. All the reporters are talking about the Russia Hacks or the fainting episode or anything but the two solid minutes where Obama lambasted them for running with the hacked email narrative for 6 months then wondering why it was such a big deal.
