@Zfire: I understand that the Kindle will do PDF's but you have to email it to your Kindle account and they reformat the file so it works better on the device. If true, that can give it an edge on the nook. You either get a goofy layout (nook) or you have to go through extra steps (Kindle). You get to pick your

@Zfire: A lot of those guys are just collecting freely available books from places like Guetnberg Project and compiling them. I bought one that had some 1500 books on a CD for less than $10. I happily paid him for his time in gathering files I would have spent weeks - if not years - collecting myself.

@buttnugget: I forgot about the Free Fridays - thanks to that feature I went some 6 weeks before I actually bought a book. It's also how I discovered a new author and ended up buying the entire 8 book series (which is why they do that!).
