This. A 1941 Ford custom truck, with a 4.6/4 cam V8 mounted midships.

@skraelingshortbus: Those are four-cylinder diesels. A twin-turbo V6 diesel is a lot bigger.

"VW/Audi needs an upgrade path for GTI owners hitting middle age."

@grzydj: Because a diesel would cost more to build, for starters. Diesel emissions equipment is also significantly more expensive than catalytic converters. All of that gets rolled into higher cost for the finished truck, which makes it less competitive.

Good to see VW stepping in to serve the demographic left behind when Chrysler went upmarket with the new 200.

1) There's no way in hell they sell that for $57K and make a profit.

@DunkinDude: Is this from The Onion's early days?

Can't believe this one hasn't been mentioned yet. The picture I first saw had an Ohio State license plate frame just to grind some salt into the wound.

Tons of horsepower and an open diff? Please tell me that GM wasn't so retarded that they made limited slip an option on the Grand National.

Thirteen is the top dollar price for this car, but aside from the "No, I really am 19 years-old" stickers it's clean and the mods are well-chosen. And if any Miata is ever going to be collectable, the Mazdaspeed second-gen is it.

@ndhapple: Thanks for the reply, but you're wrong.

If you posted this kind of criticism at TTAC, Niedermeyer and his crew would disappear you for it. No joke, criticizing the staff is against the terms of use - even when you point out errors in their writing. (I've been on the receiving end a couple of times and finally said screw it.)

The only drawback is that it's a SA. I'd gladly pay $5K for a FB this clean and rust free.

@regal1975: The C3 was better than the C2? No. Not even close. Even if the power-robbing emissions standards had not neutered the engines, the C3 was fatter, handled more poorly and created the image of the Corvette as a sports car for poseurs.

@luisthebeast: Probably not much. But this will increase price support for the stock at $14.

@grzydj: They're never going to be out of debt. Even the healthiest automakers carry billions in short and long-term debt. (In their most recent FY, Honda had $20b in debt.)
