Am I looking at different pictures? Because, by historical standards (remember the Catera, anyone?) the sedan is one of the better looking " 'Mericunized" models I've seen. I hope there is a body-color option for the faux brake cooling vents, but the grille on the sedan looks okay to me.

You're smoking crack if you think $5500 off a Dodge pickup is a good deal. Last spring they were selling the damn things BOGO and that destroyed the resale value. Even after taking $5500 off you're still going to be three grand underwater when you drive it off the lot.

Bloat is inevitable, so any picture of three or more generations of driving cars would surely show at least as much weight gain, not to mention the increased complexity and electronic driving aids, as the BMW 5 series, right?

@econobiker: Yeah, but I don't remember anyone every claiming that a Corolla or Accord was an ultimate driving machine.

@Brian: The trickiest part with any of these WWII era fighters was at the low and slow end of the envelope. If you could avoid being shot down, the most dangerous part of flying these planes was landing them. Any kind of engine problem on landing or immediately after takeoff was likely to cause a fatal crash.

@Devin LaDawri: I answered this above, but the original P-38 was designed to carry at least 2,000 pounds of external ordinance (upped to 4,000 pounds on later models), carry four machine guns and an automatic cannon in the nose, and fly at close to mach one for short periods when needed.

@Turkina: This one doesn't need to carry four machine guns and a cannon in the nose or require enough wing area to lift up to 4,000 pounds of bombs and external fuel.

@Wes Siler: Fair enough, but what about against the $75K Z06, which is closer in power (505 vs 540) and also shares the less-than-wonderful interior of the lesser models? Or dollar-for-dollar, the Shelby against a base Corvette?

Three stars for value because the $32K GT Track Pack is almost as much fun to drive? Okay, I really like that spec of the GT, too, and if it were mah own money that's the way I'd go.

@Mr.choppers - Delenda Carthago Est: As I mentioned earlier, a E24 M6 in I-think-I-need-a-tissue perfect condition will sell for around $30K. I'd take that every day of the week over any E30.

Fair market for a pristine, low-mileage E28 M5 or E24 M6 is ten grand less than this clown wants for a M3.

@SoaringDisbelief: The principles are too complex for a layman to understand, but it has been scientifically proven that an ultra high performance wagon contains 100% less douchebagness than the sedan version of the same car. #cadillacctsvsportwagon

Good find, but I don't recall fifteen year-old rollbacks with 350K commanding much more than three to five grand even before the carpocalypse. #towing

A Lancia with a "timing belt" problem? Win, er, lose. #beta

No votes for the Ferrari California? Whodathunkit? #qotd

@alexander_the_car_salamander: That was an official early rendering, but the final car is different. The nose of the Nationwide car isn't nearly as sloped.

E24 M6

@petersterncan: Chances are that the feds got the information on these cars by searching the California DMV for Skylines registered for street use, which nukes the "I only imported it for my drifting team" excuse.
