It's in some ways worse. They Nazis were evil, but they were Pro-German in their own twisted way. The Confederate heroes were bad guys that were enemies of the United States.

I've been wondering the same thing. All the original fans seem to have turned on it, and it doesn't seem to have mutated into anything with strong appeal with young people.

It's as if Spaceballs had come out in 1987.

I guess if the killers had been given some daddy-issues flashbacks, it would have been bumped up to an A.

Sure. I can agree with all of that.

They both have an air of bleak sentimentality that might work well together.

"And while Danny halfheartedly tries being a jock, in the end it’s Sandy who undergoes the biggest makeover, ditching her cardigans for skin-tight leather pants and totally morphing into Danny’s ideal, leaving her real self far behind."

I'd agree with that. It came off as worse because 10 was a particularly human Doctor as far as his emotions went. For 10 to be so uncaring about Martha's feeling came of as crueler than it would with 11 or 12, where complete obliviousness is entirely believable.

I'm aware of that. My point was simply that Henson was in favor of it.

Oh, you men!

Brian, I'm going to assume for my own entertainment purposes that you are Brian Henson looking divert attention to other puppet controversies than your own.

I would be very happy to hear those were scenes created purely to be used in the trailer that never appear in the movie. And a movie can still have one or two heavy-handed scenes and still be good overall.

This. Jim Henson was basically done with the Muppets. He didn't have any intention of milking them forever and was perfectly happy to sell them off to a company that wanted to. Henson wanted to continue with things like the Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and Storytellers.

If we can't recycle the exact same Simpson's jokes day after day, I don't even know what the point of all this is anymore.

You can't lose the Whitmire. The Whitmire is the heart.

Enjoy it while you can. It's only a matter of time before the entire world of puppeteering is engulfed in the drama, MST 3K included.

Sure. That doesn't mean it will be bad. The dialogue that has every character spelling out the themes of the movie though…

He understands Kermit on a deeper level than you.

Add in the fact that it is a lot quicker to make a small scale drama than it is to make a special effects blockbuster and it is easy to believe.

The AV Club had a mandated level of shit that needs to be in every article.
