They could have at least gotten Frank Langella if that is what they were going for.

The Three Towers

To an extent I agree, but the The Shawshank Redemption was a case of King working outside his usual genre anyway. The Dark Tower series is King trying to make the ultimate tapestry of the Stephen King Universe. It should be the most King thing ever.

I'd just finished reading the Overlook Festival article, so it was pretty obvious to me. Seemed weird to feature an Easter Egg so prominently in a trailer.

*Sung to the tune of "Workin' for a Livin'" by Huey Lewis and the News.

It's hurt by coming on the heels of the It trailer, which truly managed a convincing Stephen King vibe. If I hadn't known this was a Stephen King story, I never would have guessed it.

Spinning the barrel is a good trick!

I can't wait for the scene where the Archmage of the Aether gives him his magical weapon!

"Screenplay by Akiva Goldsman"

It was actually. If there is any hope of her having any kind of happiness in her future, she had to make that bleak realization.

You can never have too many reluctant heroes in a movie.

But now he is a reluctant hero! The rejection of the call! Everyone loves seeing that shit again and again.

Aren't they cramming a massive series into a single movie? They'll probably only have time for Roland to have a character arc.

I've never understood the concept of using music you like as a ringtone. It seems like the perfect way to ruin it for yourself. When people first started doing it, I thought it would be a short-lived fad like when people would put custom sound themes on their computer in the '90s, yet it lives on.

That's actually For a Few Dollars More. Which makes it no less on the nose.

I never read these books, but I was big Stephen King fan when I was a teen. I can still sense this is utterly devoid of the feeling this movie, or at least the trailer, should have. There is nothing particularly Kingy about it.

You could probably get Tituss Burgess on board to do that.

I used to have respect for your opinion, Colonel, but you are never coming back from that takedown. You should probably just start fresh with a new account at this point.

A man who uses a toaster to toast toast has forgotten the face of his father.

I haven't read these books despite having read a lot of King, but doesn't this look like the opposite. Roland has given up on being a gunslinger until this quirky kid comes along and inspires him.
