That would be incorrect- alphanumeric passwords are considered to be “oral testimony” by the courts, and as such the fifth amendment applies to them.

The problem I have with this is that CMU used data both irresponsibly and unethically (as well as illegally if they were in fact in any way affiliated with the FBI.)
