The Citroën SM is arguably one of the most comfortable cars ever made, and a hell of a grand tourer with its Maserati engine. Upkeep on an SM would be another full time job but it's quite possibly worth it. It's one of the worst, and best cars ever made and you need one.

Any time you convert energy from one medium to another (ie, mechanical energy to electrical/electrical to mechanical like you're talking about, chemical to mechanical, like an internal combustion engine, etc), there's inefficiencies. A shaft running from the turbine to the compressor is probably at least 99%…
