As far as the ancient tech goes, if it's simple and it works why change it? HD is big on its heritage, so the OHV v-twin isn't going anywhere.

Valves have been self-adjusting on Harley engines since the introduction of the Evolution engines in 1984/5, so unless you're working on an old Shovelhead or older, no adjustment necessary.
