That was a stupid response. Sherry could have been 14 and literally nothing would have had to change. See: Ashley, who was a teenager, and literally less useful than Sherry, who at least wandered around avoiding dogs and picking up keys for you.

Every outfit pictured is just terrible. Literally no talent or eye for fashion was needed to design those monstrosities.

Yet clearly it didn't, or the games' storyline wouldn't have happened to begin with.

That's beside the point though. The point is that he doesn't like including submissive characters, and then included one. Sherry could have been anyone or anything else. There was no reason she had to be so young, except that they wanted her to be.

In RE1, which is what the Mikami quote is referring to when he mentions Rebecca, she was definitely not a strong character though. Of course, Mikami also gave us Sherry and Ashley, who were definitely submissive and helpless.

My favorite thing about Claire was that she was the only one of the main RE protagonists who didn't have some kind of special combat training. Jill and Chris were STARS, Leon was a police officer (rookie, but still had training), and even with the newer games Sheva, Piers, and Jake all had training of some sort, but

Well, to be fair, most of them probably didn't know the mansion was full of the walking dead when they decided to explore it, and Rebecca had survived RE0 so she was probably expecting more problems inside the mansion to begin with (although Re0 came after that, so originally she was just hiding I guess).

Here's what I don't get though. Why didn't he just put Rebecca in a later game, but now that she's lived through at least two T-virus incidents (RE1 and 0) she's not all weak and submissive anymore? We haven't seen her since RE1 despite being one of the only surviving characters, and there's no reason why she'd have

It sounds like a retirement community.

I was pretty indifferent to the game until the spread in game informer this month. It actually got me really excited for this even though I'm terrible at horror games because I get scared too easily.

I mostly agree, but I WILL say that one of the reasons I enjoyed Persona 4 was because of Naoto and Kanji's storylines/dungeons, simply because those types of issues aren't AS common in games. Of course, I enjoy Persona in general (except for the first one) because of the way they deal with the characters'

It's a little surprising since Tabata's running it and Type-0 let you switch characters on the fly. But then again Tabata as director is a newish thing and it's not that surprising for Nomura.

It's considered taking a chance FOR THIS COMPANY because this isn't something they've done in a long time and it could go really badly for them considering that their standard "we need character development somehow" fallback involves two of the party members falling in love and that likely won't happen this time

Having a female in a game doesn't automatically make it interesting, and what you're suggesting is that this game should have token minority characters (in this case, a woman) "just because."

Well, we all have our own opinions. This is a prince and his posse, and they were going for a relatively realistic look, so to me it makes sense that they all look like a Japanese boy band like Arashi or like any given group of males in Shibuya/Shinjuku after 7pm.

Granted this is anecdotal and my group of friends does not speak for all gay men out there, but the only complaints I've heard regarding this cast is from my gay friends who are into the more muscular/bear type of man. Most of us are fine with the cast. I mean a few of us wanted to play as Stella or something, but

I think the idea is that people are complaining about the lack of females in this game as part of the general "there aren't enough females in games" commentary. Which on the one hand is fine, and it's true that women get the shaft most of the time, but this is a company that regularly features strong women in roles

No. You have to fight the monsters corrupting the crystals 4 times, and Alternis more than once. All the other bosses are completely optional.

Good story elements, bad presentation seems to be a running theme in SE (and even squaresoft) games. FFVIII and XIII immediately come to mind, as does Bravely Default (in which almost the entirety of the plot could have been avoided if any of the characters had decided to actually talk to each other instead of

"It looks like a blatant rip off of a game I know almost nothing about. Also, the combat, unlike the very engaging and constantly changing selecting-things-from-a-menu-system that the other games had, seems repetitive."
