My brother-in-law (not a car guy) really wants a wagon. He’s practical and wants economy and utility, so he asked me why is it so hard to find a wagon that’s not a Subaru.

Exactly. Calling the current gen Outback a wagon seems...a bit inauthentic.

GM makes ~10% profit on a good year

GM only makes ~10% profits over their expenses on a good year. Just because they’re making Billions doesn’t mean they’re “making handsome profits”. They’re also spending billions to get there.

Well, obviously Tesla workers don’t know anything about eMMC, either :p

Granted this could be resolved with a software fix, but then would they not be able to gather all that data needed to get that level 5 in the next year (is that the most recent timeframe claim?)?

This is what I’m wondering too. They already ran a 5.5L version of the LS in the current car and their power and fuel mileage numbers were comparable to everyone else (thanks Balance of Performance). With everything being balanced out I’m genuinely curious why they’d go through the trouble of developing an entirely…

To be fair it’s because visibility is total crap when you’re behind a truck/SUV. So then others get a higher riding vehicle to see and block the view for even more people who then buy a higher riding vehicle.

So the 4-series GranCoupe is a liftback.  This seems like a hugely missed opportunity to do the same for the 2-series.  I guess I get why the 6 and 8 series GC’s were trunk/sedans, but the low cost car would, I’d think, benefit from the hatch and it’s additional cargo volume.   I guess they want to force you into an…
