IMO this is the initial step I would expect for autonomous vehicles. Autonomous specific lanes like HOV lanes. Once they get vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communication figured out, these lanes would run very efficiently and at much higher speeds.

This should be the production Lyriq interior. Nice to see a volume knob, toggles for the HVAC functions and rotary knob for the touch-screen infotainment. GM is finally “getting it”.

A good indicator that this will be well below $60k and not just $59,999:

People that have seen it describe it as a large fastback sedan along the lines of the Escala concept, but with a front end similar to the Lyriq.

But this is an M3 wagon. Why wouldn’t it have the same front as the M3?

Yes, we are going to see several chemistry changes in a very short time as they increase density, work to remove cobalt and nickel, and eventually go to solid state. GM has designed their Ultium battery system to be modular so any chemistry can be used as it becomes production ready.

Lucid provides the batteries for Formula E.

Cadillac:

In the US Buick outsells Acura and Infiniti, and was only 10% behind Audi’s 2019 total. Buick is doing just fine.

Don’t you mean “Iq”?

So you think value is based purely on exterior styling? Why do any luxury vehicles exist then?

Well instead of doing a few EVs GM is going all out and has over 20 in development. Also considering the industry doesn’t expect battery costs to come down low enough to be profitable until mid-decade, GM is probably purposely pushing these vehicles out until closer to then.

Better?

They have given up on all those internal combustion vehicles and are starting fresh with EV.

Even longer for an all new platform. GM most likely started development of this new EV platform back in 2016.

Hummer goes on sale this time next year. The Lyriq starts production in 2022.

Looks like we have a Tesla killer. Look at those windshield wiper controls.

It has redundant dials and buttons.

Its a story about the Fusion being discontinued and I posted a photo of the last one coming down the line. Honestly I’m a little disappointed we don’t have any better photos of the car at the end of the assembly line.
