I’m not a huge fan, and I think it’s because of the cultivated hesitation in her voice. This seems to be a bit of an NPR phenomenon - the interviewer who wants to avoid being ironic, but can’t disguise it perfectly, so the earnestness is a style rather than a content. I heard that interview when it first aired and it was a nightmare. Gene Simmons has absolutely no self-awareness and no ability to laugh at himself.

Gawd! That was one of the most uncomfortable interviews ever and solidified my deep hatred of Simmons.

Her interview with Gene Simmons was also legendarily awful (though he never walked out).
