But what about rifles? Can’t a rifle carry a lot more rounds? That’s where things start breaking down for me. Between the extra capacity, the longer-range capabilities (longer than a pistol, anyway), plus the fact that you make them easier to use with pistol grips, I feel comfortable saying “yea” to handguns but “nay”…

When you say “defense,” do you mean of your own home? Or are you speaking of a larger-scale fight against the government?

Honest question, because I don’t know. How many rounds can the magazine for your typical semi-automatic handgun carry? How does that compare to a semi-automatic rifle like an AR?
