@ebe3692: Great post - gives a fair perspective certainly different than my own. I don't agree that posting here is similar to posting on Facebook, simply because of how/why I use it. While there are certainly some social implications, for me they come as a byproduct of my interest in tech news and other peoples'

@AlexJDA: Whats wrong with privacy invading time sinks that do nothing I couldn't otherwise do on my own? Otherwise lost? I didn't want to stay in contact with "people I would otherwise lose". If they are important to me, I stay in touch. I have a ton of friends i stay in contact with, I don't need Facebook to do

Things are getting social at the Senior Center!

No, no it's not. In fact, its coolness decreases inversely in proportion to the number of people that join it.

@LastAndLeast: oh I am sure it is - but yea, it's still possible. And with apps like Notefolio and Calculus Made Easy (and all it's siblings), there is a lot the calc can do that could be considered cheating. Sadly, the rules are the rules.

@Fractal the Meek: yea, I have had the same TI89 since 1999 or so. It's the old-school black one (not even a fancy titanium).

@geolemon: there are apps that can do some of what the TI can, but not all. Beyond that, phones are not allowed to be used on standardized tests. In addition, I know in my undgrad courses, we were able to use TI89's, but having a phone/internet capable device out was considered cheating.

I really hope MS is successful with this, but I have to admit - it reaaly does nothing for me. I am not compelled to buy one of their phones at least.

I wouldn't be satisfied as I refuse to use cases for my phones (especially rubber ones that make it harder to put in and out of pockets). Why buy a nice thin phone just to bulk it up with some retarded looking rubber?

@DrFegg: drank the koolaide uh? Go ahead and try getting a signal drop using only a fingertip on any other phone. Yea, sure, if you smother other phones with your whole hand, it might occur (I don't see it on my phone), but iP4 is the only one where you can brush the left corner with a finger and have your call drop.

The only thing I could think of is some code where it would, during a phone call, monitor the electrical status of the antennae, and if there is found to be a bridge, shut down the signal being sent to the wifi/bluetooth antenna to reduce or end the 'shorting' and signal problems. I am not sure this is even

@ChronoTrigger: oh no doubt, the area is really huge (larger than the size of texas) , and 'higher concentration' is a relative term. So, no it wouldn't be easy or cheap, but it's technically possible.

@Dexomega: The garbage is already concentrated in one region of the Pacific ocean and could be collected with skimmers not too different from what they are using to clean up the oil spill. Wouldn't be cheap, but it's definitely plausible, if not possible.

My guess is that it's going to go like this:

@meatbag_pussrocket: right back at you! (thought I already gave you one just for the funny handle)

Everyone cross your fingers that this thing holds!

I don't know that it's going to be the inferno that this dude claims it's going to be, but I definitely see the veneer coming off of Apple's spin-box.

@Californian: oh I totally get it, just don't want to be premature in calling a boycott on moto.

@Californian: calm down. eFuse is also found in your Droid. It's in all the OMAP based phones Moto has sold - but it hasn't been activated.
