I think it was Winston Churchill.
I think it was Winston Churchill.
I looked it up too. Thanks.
I am thinking someone said that well before Woody Allan. Was it Blaise Pascal?
I am short, and all that “boy cut” and “billowing” stuff makes me look like I have been playing dress up in someone else’s closet. A little tailoring is nice!
I watched Chris Hayes last night talk to some people in W. Virginia. They were talking about how hard their grandparents and parents had worked to build a life, and all they have now is crumbs. All of them were on welfare, and the state overwhelmingly voted for Trump. What is it with these people!?
Most of those poor whites will never see themselves as welfare recipients. They will say they paid taxes, and social security when they had jobs. They just need a little help right now. :/
There is a group of Republican congress people who are already saying they won’t vote for it. They had a press conference this afternoon. Rand Paul was speaking.
I have a friend who had a child at 20. She lived with her parents and was on WIC and other subsidy programs. During the election she talked about how she has “always worked hard and payed my bills.” Apparently she forgot about the social services she received so long ago.
So many of them really, truly believe that Chetolinni is going to help them and give them a future worth hoping for. It is heartbreaking.
WHAT EVEN?! I am not doubting that the statement was made, just trying to figure out the twisted reality one must have to say such a thing.
Yes, we fall into that catagory as well. My husband and I just looked at one another when we saw the news. Yay tax credit?
I know a guy like this. He is always railing against the poor. And yet, his father is a millionaire and he has never wanted for a thing. It makes me sick.
I agree with you on making him sound like an asshole, which is why I originally thought the celebrity was Ms. Carey.
My Dad was a Marine, and he was a strong women’s rights advocate. That was some old thinking.
You are coping better than me. Instead of crying I have an unending supply of cheap Chardonnay.
Did you have the nuclear bomb dreams? The ones where you couldn’t get to your family in time? Because I was in college during that Reagan shit, and had nightmares regularly. And that was with no anxiety issues.
The “embedding” of media was a very overt attempt by Rumsfeld to control the narrative, and it worked. Such a terrible man.
I disagree about most Americans. The alarming number of people just on my FB feed who believed that Hillary could somehow revoke the 2nd Amendment with the stroke of a pen made me lose hair. The majority of Americans seem to have NO idea how Government works, and are far more interested in watching “Real Housewives”…
You hit the nail on the head. This will be “spun” by Faux News as an “attack” on the President. Expect KellyAnn and Spicey to spew all sorts of disinformation, AKA lies.
The only issue currently is that D.C. is so very divided into partisan politics now that I am not sure they will have the wherewithal to investigate. It was bad in 72, but not nearly as nasty as now.
