Disney had originally planned to make three sequels to the Tarzan movie, where he must fight evil hunters who want to skin him alive.

I think that it was 2 reasons: 1) Glen Powell is super thirsty to be huge; 2) Linklater was probably surprised nobody had use the title before...with a space between “Hit” and “man” that is!!!  And decided to go the path of least resistance for marketing...I bet at some point it had a title like “Who’s Your Hitman?”

It's not "Hostel" level of "who wanted this", but it's close! 

Feels like Gen V is their way to keep a very popular IP going while still giving Kripke his requested five season exit. I bet it continues.

I would be on that and probably more spinoffs too

Britt Lower was tremendous on this as “Helly.” She played Adam Scott’s alien-abducted wife on the one-season weirdo show Ghosted which her character was barely in, which to judge by how effective she is here was an awful decision

Same. I am 39 and until today I had no idea it was a gay joke. I thought the gag was that it made him look like a pirate (and generally ridiculous).

Which is baffling, because there was Bran and Bronn, and those two got WAY more screen time than Asha and Osha. 

Oh I completely agree. I never felt they were punching down with the gay panic jokes. They always treated gay people as well as they treated anyone else. I remember the episode where Jerry is sitting having a “champagne coolie” with the gay wigmaster dude, and he even gets offended that someone doesn’t think the guy…
