Eh. I love these movies, but they’re not cash cows like Marvel movies. I don’t think the studio is gonna Marvelize Dune, so much as it will lead to “hey, what mediocre book can we dig up from 80 years ago to make a cool 600m dollars box office?”

They’re gonna add that to New Zealand’s banned baby names list, surely.

true haha i’d feel realllly bad for her if a small kid caused the back injury, though (not just regular bad for her)

the....the child???

This comment just made me laugh. Thank you.

He successfully sued the kid’s parents for going to the authorities about their son being molested. There was some clause in the contract that said something about any complaints had to be handled through arbitration, so they violated protocol by reporting Salva to the authorities, which says to me that he put that

Coppola supported Salva for decades...could just be an oblivious boomer supporting an artist the way they support Polanski, but it’s a little fishy to me. Might be more to their relationship

Those first few seasons were the ones that I consistently enjoyed the most. It was still a fairly good show for a number of years after, and I’d argue that every once in a while they still give us a great episode, but nothing ever felt as joyful and free-wheeling as those first three seasons. Matt and Trey clearly

He was briefly skinny on the one episode where they put him up on a cross because they needed to get a res-erection.

I was about to reply to this article with some “Give the guy a break, we’re all too quick to belive random allegations nowadays” bullshit.

Trey Parker said he’d “permanently erase… anything before season 4. It’s just embarrassing to watch.”

But you asked about complete nullification. What actual advantage would there be in that? In opening yourself, and your own troops up to gunfire? Where now some asshole with a gun can take you out at range? Why develop something to eliminate an extremely useful technology? Why put yourself at risk when there are

I just don’t like him because he actively and consistently supported Victor Salva for decades.

I gotta be honest, unless this sisterhood involves a magic pair of pants that fits everyone despite their sizes then I am out

so... Dune is now Denis Villeneuve’s ? May the ghost of Frank Herbert rise and haunt these robber barons until they are far more upfront about whose creative universe this was.

The way I look at it is this: There are movies/TV/books I have never actually consumed, but that I basically know the plot to, or certain scenes I’m familiar with, due to being referenced or parodied in other media. The Simpsons, Futurama, and Family Guy were responsible for so much of this, for instance, I’ve seen

>>>”Seems like a weird assumption to make. I’d imagine the Heston-analogue will show up ...whenever the writers run out of other ideas.”

Lol, could you explain this metaphor for me.

No, as I said, I think pretty clearly, the thing the article quoted. Basically about naivete, lack of introspection, and self-seriousness being features of youth culture and the political left.  Not just those cultures of course, but notably within those cultures.  This shouldn’t be a point of debate.

Right because otherwise all graduation events are 100% legally binding and if you miss them you have to do college again.
