No it certainly isn’t his call. The PRODUCERS are the boss, the director works FOR them. Any authority he has is what they give him, and if they give him control over the extras and deleted scenes that’s their courtesy, not his right.

His movie is still there. Having deleted scenes in the extras doesn’t change that. And it’s not like he made the movie alone, there were a lot of other people who worked hard to help make those scenes that might want to see it too even if it’s just an extra.

It’s worse that these were some soft as charmin “jabs”.
