Can you go review flight sim now? The one kotaku published is a lie.

Seriously... what the heck is this?? There was so much great content being written about Flight Simulator before it launched and practically nothing since. It’s been almost 3 weeks since the game launched and I’ve been looking forward to an in-depth review and this is what you fart out?

The fact that this is Will's first post on kotaku in over two years, and was this bad speaks volumes about the state of the GMG sites. Even the updated article goes on and on about the damn mine.

I think you’re missing the point Riley.

Wow, this was the worst game review I have ever read. This is the total antithesis to Heather Alexander’s review of Red Dead Redemption Two.

I like the analysis of games as service and the spooky implications of the technology at play but... this ain't a review of the game, really.

Don’t do slideshow articles. they are terrible clickbaity nonsense that nobody likes

They offer a 88/12 split and have no Draconian rules on who does or does not get to use their products. Additionally, unlike Apple and Google, there are plenty of competitors in their space, Epic is just the dominant one.

I like their approach, fuck Apple and their creepy cult fanboys.

Imagine suing a brick and mortar business for refusing to distribute your product for free.

Epic games application is not an operating system. The correct analogy would be Microsoft charging Steam and Epic Games to have an application that makes money on Windows, and blocking access to users if they don't pay.

This is a fascinating one-two punch with the Microsoft news. Timing seems deliberate, especially since the Justice Dept is currently investigating Apple Store practices. My guess is that they’re trying to angle for an anti-trust argument and use that pressure to get concessions. And, I mean, are they exactly wrong?

This is a lot of corporate positioning. Microsoft, Epic, Facebook, and Google are all building their case to file an anti-competitive lawsuit against Apple. I wouldn’t be shocked if Basecamp (Hey! email app) is part of it too.

“sets a dangerous precedent,” because it leads to a “victimhood mentality.”

Better fucking be a return of NFL Blitz, the best 3D football game ever made.

What’s really interesting is to consider how the price of AAA games is something that has been remarkably inflation resistant, compared to most things.  Games cost around $50 as far back as 30 years ago. Few other things have seen that stable of a price - if anything the price of games has effectively been falling

Always “interesting” reading comments on articles like this where people who claim to love this or that hobby seem to only love it when said hobby is super cheap.

$7o for a yearly sports series is going to be harder sell than other types of games. At least to me.

Stories about streamers are more fun if you’ve never heard of the person, so you can just bask in the absurdity of their regular name being combined with their doofy handle without any familiarity getting in the way. It’s always something like ‘Bradley “PizzaWalrus” Wickendorf,’ or ‘Christopher “Ultrafetish” Jenkins.’

You can’t even escape it if you’re trying. I come to Kotaku to read and talk about actual video games. But like a car crash or a dead body, I see this Twitch/YouTube/”influencer” “celebrity” crap and I gawk at it even as I hate myself for doing so.
