That should happen immediately upon startup. This thing can’t have any kind of fuel economy.

I’ve had a new ‘Bu and Camry as rentals and neither drive like anything other than the appliances they are (the Camry was last gen). The Malibu engine was much worse (noisy and underpowered 1.4t). The Camry’s 4cyl is much less intrusive. They both had sad, cheap interiors, but the Malibu’s is kind of charming in its

I had a previous gen one (I think) as a loaner a couple years ago when I was getting a seat cover replaced under warranty in my Camaro. The rear visibility in the Malibu was fucking atrocious. It was like looking through pin-hole (only a small exaggeration)

Truly a mistake if this is true.

Shouldn’t that be the “check engine” sound?

I’ve had a couple 2018 Malibu rentals lately for 300 mile days. My frequent-renting friend described it best: surprisingly adequate.

Cadillac convertible version of the mid-engined Vette. Tiny trunk, tinier frunk, folding power top, remote start, firetruck emergency lights standard.

Boo!

I drove the first 3 hour shift on a 9 hour road trip and I think I was asleep the last 30 minutes before pulling over (coffee wore off) to change drivers but fortunately the rumple strips kept us on the road (god, we were so stupid back then).

I remember the good old Mini Baja days - spending 90% of the school year designing the thing and then working 100 hour weeks to get it ready for competition all while trying to get through finals. And then chugging gallons of coffee so I could drive the first shift on one of the vehicles on our caravan from DC to the

IMO, it starts long before college though. A lot of high schools focus far more on sports than mechanical classes, leaving many kids unaware that things like this even exist to become interested in it.

Hey, I worked on EcoCar3 for Alabama! We had the new Alpha platform Camaro so that was cool to work on and modify to a hybrid. I think we ended up having similar torque numbers to the SS and similar hp to the V6 with a 2.4 Ecotec out of a Equinox and 2 electric motors.

I agree!  Just like the aviators say: A good landing is one you walk away from.  As far as rocket failures go, this was an excellent one.

Charlie is almost certainly a good dog. “Tex” on the other hand, is so casual about gun safety I’m frankly amazed he’s lived to the ripe old age of 74.

Screw the flying car! Where’s my built-in waffle maker?
