O I’m pretty sure most of them have spent a billion or 2 already. Except FCA. They just sold some vans to Google and went back to Hellcatting all the things

Same way you shampoo the seats, so just do that whenever you hose out your mobile sex den
Agreed, and I work on this shit. Geo-fenced taxis /buses will probably show up maybe even some commercial trucking but an AV in every driveway......I don’t think it will ever happen. It’s the hot fad right now but I bet all it takes is an economic downturn and people won’t be able or want to pay for the fancy…
Don’t forget the hardest part of the entire seatbelt problem: Getting people to wear them. If it’s less comfortable or convenient than what people think it should be they tend to not use it. Like remember those auto seatbelts on the tracks that always half strangled you? Most people either detached the shoulder belt…
As an engineer working on a system for autonomous vehicles I know this well. Have heard it around the office many times
We could do a lot of good if people just had to retake a driver training course every decade. People get a lot of bad habits because they don’t remember simple things like right of way.
The entire pretext of AV’s is that we can use technology to design around the laziness and stupidity of people. But personally I think we are vastly underestimating just how dumb people can be.

I can still remember the ridicule that stemmed from not being able to climb the rope in elementary school. Last year I finally was able to do it. I’m in my 30's and crazy how big that was for me.
Pretty much the same here. Wasn’t until my junior year of high school when I was asked if I wanted to take a weight training course because the other gym class was over capacity that I found something I liked. I only took it to avoid the swimming part of gym. Now I’m onto Olympic style weight lifting which might be an…
Perhaps they mean the snorkel pulls air from above the dust cloud you are kicking up therefore keeping more dirt from reaching the filter in the first place? Some tanks use a sort of skirt on their tracks in desert conditions for the same reason.
They come for the granola, they stay for the ‘edibles’ dude.
I’m assuming by your use of capitol ‘Bear’ you mean the large burly man type and not the fuzzy wuzzy type or former members of the local NFL team?
Yeah but at least you don’t have to have a body made of aluminum, so you’re safe from bears or something......./s
I completely forgot about the new BMW Z4 and almost thought it was a red Fiat Abarth 124. Can you blame me?
Agro-Dome???? You mean Yokel-Dome?
I don’t think the size of the computers themselves would be the issue, just the batteries needed to power them. We will need much more efficient processors to address that, or a revolution in battery power density. Plus there is a fair bit of snark in previous comment
No it is that big. It will need to be built on a Volvo heavy truck chassis to accommodate the needed batteries to have decent range AND run the massive amount of computers needed for that level of autonomy. So I just assume it is the size of a small apartment and will use more power than one.
The point is to print money. Prior to this I think MB just wanted to make a car louder than Jeremy Clarkson
