This guy is the biggest fucking douche on the planet. To paraphrase someone else’s joke from twitter, I can’t wait for the day the musk/grimes progeny grows up and beats him to death with a sock full of apartheid emeralds.

Gone Girl and Tallahassee. Maybe not unlikely given they’re both about deeply fucked up relationships in the south but I read the book while going through a massive Mountain Goats obsession and the two are inextricably linked in my brain. David Fincher is a total chump for not using No Children on the soundtrack imo.
I honestly don’t mind the snark but I do wish there was more long-form analysis nowadays, because the few regular columns are excellent. Petition for Ignatiy to get a regular column on literally any topic of his choosing?
I fucking hated Avatar at the time, so it’s a testament to the excellent writing in this column that I actually kinda want to rewatch it now.
I mainly saw this because of Mads but was so delighted by how sweet and sad and funny it was; it has this genuine warmth and humanity that feels all too rare at the moment. I haven’t seen any of his other films but it did sort of surprise me, because I thought The Hunt was the most intellectually dishonest bullshit…
I was a bit disappointed by the comedy aspect of this (nothing in this was funnier than Kraft Punk is to me) but the real people’s reactions were super interesting and weirdly heartwarming.
Torn between how fucking rad this sounds and how much it hurts me to see Godzilla and King Kong fight. They should be friends :(
No wonder he loves Glad Bag so much. Peas in a pork barrel.
It drives me nuts that for some reason people are obsessed with charisma but only when it’s a Labour candidate. Like I fully understand wanting to feel impressed/inspired by a potential leader and Labour’s men are not really up to that job, but god. I’ll take anyone who isn’t a smug, smirking boy’s club Liberal right…
He is so genuinely incapable of any kind of empathy or accountability, it’s actually fascinating to watch. Any time the opportunity for him to cosplay as an actual leader presents itself, he has a huge tantrum and starts bringing up murdered protestors. Incredible.
It’s astounding (but also just a testament to the power of the Murdoch media) that he’s just been able to brush off every mindbogglingly offensive thing he’s said/done so far. So watching him flounder so badly now is rather delicious.
I was wondering how long it would be before Jez started covering the situation here. It’s been a fucking exhausting month, but part of me takes a sick pleasure in watching ScoMo’s seemingly infallible spin start to come undone. It’s pretty funny that only six weeks ago the Coalition were gearing up an early election…
I really loved Another Round. It easily could’ve been hokey but it walks this beautiful line between being funny and charming, and being desperately melancholy. Thomas Vinterberg’s daughter dying tragically just before filming had a massive impact on his direction I think, and Mads’s performance is excellent as you’d…
As someone who adores the books I’m still super skeptical but damn, evil cowboy Mads Mikkelsen makes a compelling argument.
I haven’t watched it personally, just got the general vibe from previews/reviews that it was pretty mediocre.
Like on one hand, I get it. She’s dealt with disgusting misogyny and slut-shaming for a long time, and that’s fucked up and unacceptable. But also, she’s been so disingenuous in the way she’s promoted and profited off this image of herself as a perpetual victim while simultaneously decrying it. This whole debate was…
Bruhhh this is so embarrassing. Imagine being as rich and successful as this and still giving a shit about a throwaway line from a not very good netflix show. Just go take a bath in diamonds or something, Taylor.
I think it’s just too harsh and lacks proper depth, and ends up making her look a lot paler than she is. I’m by no means a professional but I can definitely understand why people are a little upset. I think the styling is nice though!
Full disclaimer, I’m also white! Photography has a long unfortunate history of extremely racist shit, in particular film literally not being made to adequately capture people with dark skin, and you can definitely see the legacy in fashion photographer/cinema today. Look at stills from shows like Insecure and I May…
I think people are annoyed that Black women don’t seem to get the ultra-glam covers that white women do, and this is definitely a pared-back look for Megan. That said, the actual article talks about it a lot, how she’s becoming more comfortable in natural make up looks etc. My main issue is that the lighting is total …
