It’s not unnuanced. It’s the correct answer. If you can’t afford to pay cash you can’t afford a quickly depreciating luxury good. And if the financing rate is below the risk free market rate - the lender is subsidizing the deal another way, usually by a higher purchase price. Lenders aren’t in the business for the fun

Make deal first, tell how your going to py for it at the end of the deal was what I’ve always been taught (and read here before)

Invest in what exactly. 0.8% savings, a highly unpredictable stock market, Iffy bonds? This is profit taking from stocks over the past 10 years. A new car would be a better investment (how sad is that) then my 16yo Outback.

The reason you’ll make more with the investment is that it’s a risk. It may be a low risk, but it’s still a risk. There’s nothing un-silly about preferring to own the car outright and not risking it even if you pay a little more for it vs the outcome of most of your future timelines.

I kinda feel bad for insulting a Transformer movie.

What Transformers movie was that from?

Meh, what do you expect? Change for the sake of change....

See, that’s why I want a Mitsubishi mirage: I want people to think I have a massive hog

This reads more as a pitch to never buy a Rover vs. a reason to buy the extended.

Honestly, how many Land Rover owners even own their car longer than the standard warranty? 5%? 10%?

I bet they managed to get you to pay for it without even noticing. Finance departments are sly like that.

So......Let me just say, I LOVE PHEVs. I think that anyone looking for a new car should consider one over a hybrid or EV. A typical person can drive all week long, charge at night, and never burn a drop of gas, meanwhile, they always have a working car for long trips, power outages/natural disasters, and those nights

There are some smooth-brain folks that would whole-heartedly agree with that.

Speed-related fatalities would certainly drop, because 95% of those people had an underlying condition anyway.

About 60% of the Sturgis population wanted it canceled, but business interests from outside the city pushed for it anyway.

The only shocking thing here for me is that Smash Mouth headlined Sturgis. What the hell?

If they won't respect you as a visitor, AdBlock. :P

So it’s the Pregnancy Test of Theseus...

this was initially impressive, until the person clarified that he replaced both the screen and the microprocessor of the original device.  so it’s really only using the plastic shell of the pregnancy test, and the vast majority of the components don’t actually fit inside it.  i mean if my friend showed me they’d done

Well, how else do you feed the programmers.
