What sucks is there is a real reason to investigate whether or not it affects national security. If the US relied on importing everything, and, god forbid, a real war did actually break out, would we have the materials and capability to support that war from a manufacturing standpoint?

You’re talking about brand loyalty, and it is a real thing. And certainly is a risk for the present direction. But, someone decided the risk was worth the reward. Time will tell if they are correct.
