Not sure there is a gentler version on her ego.

The fact remains that you’re assigning race and trying to save face about it. You started it by claiming white feminism, which implies that you think I’m white.

Woah! You’re the one injecting race into this. Kate Winslet already had a well deserved Grammy, a couple Golden Globes and 3 or 4 Oscar nominations by the time Jennifer Hudson was just thinking about auditioning for American Idol. Winslet’s tangible talent and accomplishments has nothing to do with race. As matter of

Of course she is. For her work in a *musical*. Because she’s a very talented singer/actor.

But you like all the others? Like Nicky a poor little rich girl who destroyed Red’s entire life for no reason? Alex? A woman who was raised by a loving parent and thinks she had it rough because she had hand me down clothes and spent her entire life manipulating women into being drug mules?

She’s not some blockbuster Hollywood movie star out of her element here. She’s a singer/actor cast in a musical.

Like, what is the point of insulting a character I obviously love (avatar and name) when it’s totally and completely unrelated to the topic? Just to be a dick?

Fuck you, Piper’s awesome.

They did hire two more talented actors and if they hadn’t she’d be nominated.

Maybe she’s just having an off day. We’ve all felt clarity after an iffy tweet that could be taken the wrong way and deleted it.

I just realized Danielle Brooks is only 26 and my mind is BLOWN. She is so freaking talented, I cannot wait to see where her career takes her.

How exactly was she “used”? She's an actor/singer cast in a musical. Seems like it's the kind of job she would want.

This, and you. So correct.

Which nominated actress should have been left off to make room for this person who was “snubbed”? The article also says Variety agreed it was a snub. I checked Variety’s article and it says Jennifer Hudson’s performance earned “generally appreciative notices from the critics”. Not exactly a

I always get in trouble for saying this, but I don’t think Jennifer Hudson is a good actress at all. At ALL. I think she has an amazing voice, but I didn’t think she was that great in Dream Girls (other than singing) and she was downright terrible in the Sex and the City movie. I just don’t think this is a snub. It

Yes, exactly. It was Cynthia Erivo, who WAS nominated and is one of the favorites to win.

It’s not a snub. They can’t nominate everyone and Danielle Brooks and Cynthia Erivo were far superior. In addition to Julliard grad Danielle Brooks being generally perfect.

Cynthia Erivo getting a nomination means that all is well in the world. I have a feeling that she’s headed for way bigger things.

Cynthia Erivo. And yes, I believe she got the nod for lead actress in a musical.

I think it’s evident to anyone who watched the video of the cast singing Purple Rain after Prince passed that Cynthia Erivo is the exceptional talent in that show. And she was nominated for her work.

I only saw that clip of them covering Purple Rain. It was obvious to me that the real talent of the show was the woman that played Celie. She totally overshadowed Jennifer Hudson.
