Aaah, all right! Lots of folks are coming into this with no knowledge of the original 14 books, so I wasn't sure.

Ah, should have specified that a few friends of mine didn't like it. I know the book was well-received generally.

I wouldn't say it in such strong terms myself, but otherwise, agreed 100%.

Gosh, I want a Wizard of Oz retelling that ACTUALLY STAYS CLOSE TO THE BOOKS. Every other retelling either only follows the musical, or takes a handful of elements from the books and is too scared to do much with them, the latter of which seems to be the case here.

I dunno, I've heard the Wicked books aren't great. Don't they also mostly follow the old musical rather than Baum's original books?

I'm a huge fan of the books and I'm anxious to see how they're going to handle Jack, since he's my favorite character. Obviously his relationship with Tip will be different from how it is in the books, so that's a bit disappointing, but still. I wonder what his story is? We know nothing about him here other than his

Tip is one of the main characters from the Oz books, and is actually a girl that's been transformed into a boy, same as how the Tip in the show appears.
