Threatening to rape people and threatening to castrate them are incompatible with any kind of moral authority. The idea that those things can be made good by circumstance just shows how far things have fallen.

That’s the worst of it. His family doesn’t just expect people to get over it. They expect sympathy for him for the loss of his swimming potential, his college progress, and for him being yelled at and threatened (had to be in protective custody while serving his 3 month sentence).

I doubt it’s really about Facebook likes. It’s about patting themselves on the back. Working for real and lasting change is often thankless and more time consuming. Spending a couple of days perched outside the target of public hate is much easier and more visible.
