That is absurdly classist. Flying is expensive (and hellish) enough.
I don’t really have anything to contribute, but I hear you, I feel you and I am wishing the best for you.
Not my first job but one of my first in my early 20s. I worked on a food truck run by eccentric Israeli hippies. At first I loved the job and enjoyed getting to work with the owners at breweries and various art festivals around the city. Sure, dishwashing, cleaning and stocking the truck after a long shift was pretty…
Not a military brat but can totally relate. I’m a US citizen who was born in Bolivia, lived in Thailand, Hong Kong, India, Germany, the US, the UK for 1-4 years each and now Canada (6 years). Where am I from exactly?
By your logic, I’m from Canada but I was born in Bolivia and lived in Thailand, Hong Kong, India, Germany, and Israel for 2 years and (only) have US citizenship......not exactly a short sentence.
I’m sorry that happened to you. It sounds very stressful and painful but it seems like you handled it really well. Unfortunately in this case I think all of my relatives would say they favour my brother because I am the introverted, “black sheep”, middle-child who has lived “abroad” for the last decade.
I think it’s an “older brother” thing in the sense that he’s always just done what he wants to do with little consideration of how it will affect anyone else. His fiance does know about the engagement and actually reached out to me last winter before Covid hit because she was coming up to Canada with her family and…
Hey all, I am late to the thread so unsure if anyone will see this. I’ve also been posting/commenting (sporadically for years) and it would be great if I could get out of the greys.
I didn’t even get any xanax! Nothing pre/during surgery for pain or anxiety and only some useless steroid drops for the pain post surgery. I didn’t get lasik either, I got the other form of eye surgery where they reshape your cornea instead of creating a flap and it was extremely painful and uncomfortable for about…
That sounds like a great trip! And I think it’s a good idea to visit when the Festival stuff has calmed down, August can be a bit overwhelming here.
I love this advice, thank you!
Happy Saturday everyone! We are enjoying some unusually nice (so I’m told) late summer weather over here in Scotland and I bought some new houseplants and a cheap bottle of white wine to set the mood in the living room this evening.
One summer during my undergrad I got a job working on a food truck. At first it was really great. Both the owners (also the only other employees at the time) were in their late 20s and seemed really chill. As we got more popular and started working at festivals the shifts became very long and gruelling. I’d be…
We brought home our new puppy tonight!!!!
No one is going to see either of these posts because I’m in the grays but I just remembered that I forgot to mention that said cat had diarrhoea the entire flight from New York to Paris. Including a particularly explosive bout as we took him out of his carrier to go through security at JFK.
This past summer my boyfriend and I made the move from Canada to the UK for grad school together. We also have a 3 year old cat, who plays a very important character in this story.
That’s wonderful!
Happy Saturday everyone! Last time I posted was about a massive (nearly relationship ending) fight with my long term boyfriend and before that, a few posts about the headaches involved with coordinating an across-the-world move with said partner and very floofy pussy cat.
Oh Maya, I’m so sorry to hear this *hugs*
