I don’t think that piece is anywhere near that simple. When I read that piece I do see a number of flaws with the presentation and occasional content of the opinions being shared, but for the most part I do see some serious issues worthy of being raised. When a cisgender woman listens to a transgender woman discuss

That’s kind of weak. I work full time and go to school at night but I can stay in shape. It’s hard work and if that’s not what you want, so be it, I won’t judge you, but don’t act like it’s impossible to achieve that kind of shape without personal trainers and dietitians.

I’m sure I’ll get a lot of shit for this, but I just cant manage to muster up any sympathy for this girl or her mother. Where dress codes are sexist or unequally applied, I acknowledge and accept that shining a light on it and shaming the administrators can be a good thing. No one should be made to feel shitty simply

irish people abroad are eligible to vote if they’ve been out of the country less than 18 months. you are not eligible to vote if you think you might like to go to ireland on holiday sometime. hope this clears things up.

extra annoying since dany’s wedding night in the books was consensual.

That’s the “forcible seduction” trope Natasha references and it mostly fell out of fashion 20 years ago. Romance has changed a lot even in the last decade.

It really doesn’t matter what happens in future episodes (though I’ll be shocked if that’s not roughly how it plays out, they’ve been spending a lot of time with Theon emoting inner conflict for it not to be significant). In *this* episode, they included a scene where Sansa was raped just so that viewers could see

Seriously, when she told off Miranda, I was like yes, finally Sansa is going to be assertive and manipulate the shit out of some dudes! And then she was raped just so that Theon could feel bad about himself and presumably save Sansa in a moment of self-sacrificing redemption later in the season.

Yo dawg, that’s like exactly why Tom’s arguing that the scene is so fucked up. Sansa, already the show’s most-tortured female character, is further brutalized and turned into a prop to further develop another (frankly, useless) male character’s arc.

Not only was this habitually and emotionally tortured female character thrown into an unnecessary rape scene, she was put there to reflect the Emotional Journey of one of the most useless side characters.

Wait now I’m confused—much of the article is about how Conchita thinks of himself as a man, “in a dress.” Wouldn’t the proper pronouns be he/him? I honestly don’t know the answer, so just curious!

I am confused for the opposite reason. You explicitly quote him identifying not as trans, but a man in a dress. Why not masculine pronouns then?

It does - maybe don’t use words you don’t understand, Stassa.

Wait, I thought “penultimate” meant “second to last”?

They have obligations that can be met in complete safety. See William. That’s what Harry was supposed to do, and he argued against it. I’ve been in the military and those types of terms are thrown around quite loosely between everyone. This does not excuse it obviously, and the context of who Harry is obviously

Edgy. No one ever brings up this decade-old story when talking about Harry. Because nothing he’s ever done in all the years since being a stupid teenager (his tours in Afghanistan, his AIDS charity, the numerous things he’s done for disabled veterans including walking to the South Pole and putting on the Invictus

“but I’m not in love with the place”

Kate, we have to break up. :( London is where my heart lives, even though the rest of my body is in New Jersey. What’s-His-Name and I found this place on the recommendation of a bartender and we spent a lovely afternoon just... hanging out. And not being in a pub, which felt weird but apparently one must go outside

Nunhead is a secret place because it isn’t on the Tubes. But buses are frequent. And one of the few places in London that actually has reasonable housing not entirely for rich people. or it was a few years ago. Things may have changed now.
