I worked on a project where my company was designing a sluice gate to improve Smelt passage along a river. True story.

Her sister wasn't too bad, either. Coincidentally, Lana Wood's character in Diamonds are Forever was killed by drowning, despite her buoyant charms.

I think you might enjoy Fiddler on the Roof. It's one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen.

Which Karen Black was your least favorite?

"Who talks like that?"

He seems to have preferred to prey on children, but the list of alleged victims spans many age groups. He was a sex fiend of a general sort, not the kind of specialist we're used to. Just an all-around, awful, awful person.

Although prosecution is out the window, there's plenty of evidence to suggest that Jimmy Savile dabbled in necrophilia, but it seems to be overshadowed by his numerous other monstrous crimes. It shows how despicable rape is when necrophilia is the lesser of two evils.

I see that Dr. Hathaway was able to keep those nerds at Pacific Tech on schedule.

Great, then those carrying guns will get to act like bullies. Everybody wins!

Lyndall Hobbs - Back to the Beach. Maybe the funnest movie ever made.

If we're being nitpicky (that's not a criticism) and talking about Criterion, Carnival of Souls is by no means a "recent" inductee into the Criterion Collection. It's spine number is 63 (out of about 750); the DVD was originally released by them well over a decade ago.

I'm in the same boat. I don't necessarily mind pop music, but I normally wouldn't spend any money on it. Electric Lady was worth every penny.

It's not surprising that Marilyn Manson comes off as the most normal person in this trio. He's obsessed with Kenny Powers, so he's one of the good ones.

I bought a new turntable yesterday, A Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC, so I ran to the record store to load up on some new LPs:

I can't imagine I'd be any different if I had his bank account.

The last episode airs this week. This series is more unhinged than the last series.

I don't think I'm going to make much effort to catch up on Harmontown until Jeff gets back. Kumail is great, but Jeff makes that podcast as good as it is. I like to think he would have called her out on such a lazy premise.
