I read a book in High School called “I Had Seen Castles”. Tiny little 90 pager, real simple, about a young man going off to WWII. He enlists because he’s young and prideful and all that, and it devastates his girlfriend. It stuck with me at the time. I was only 15 or whatever, very much wanting to fall in love, etc.

Me too, Ben. It mostly makes me sad now.

I don’t have any wise or pithy thoughts, but I hope that your doctor can help and get you back to a stable place. Do you have a therapist? If not, can I suggest finding one?

I miss the AV Club.

I know its nothing new and its AVClub so there is tons of posts about it but this Puerto Rico stuff is a new low for the president. all this because the mayor criticized how it took a week for them to do anything.

I strongly suspect this will be a very quiet comment section because ... well... this feature’s about dead by now.

“author Jane Ward asserts that sexual interaction between straight white men allows them to leverage whiteness and masculinity to authenticate their heterosexuality in the context of sex with men”

Yeah, but there’s a pretty big difference between “we’d care not to talk about that dude who murdered his family” (which, by the way, is TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE, and one of the better-taste things WWE has done), and “Oh yeah, this guy who said really shitty things and was a truly horrible person is now the face of our

What kind of sports/entertainment organization would ignore behavior like racism, homophobia, drug use, prostitution, wife beating, dog fighting, gambling, assault, robbery, attempted murder...what is this the NFL.

Good news, everyone! The good Futurama episodes are now much more difficult to catch if you don’t own them on DVD or whatever!

Yep. In-universe she’s known as a terrible president, incompetent, and a narcissist. They’re very lucky they had her lose the White House before the Idiot in Chief got elected, because it would’ve been awkward to watch half-competent narcissist Selina Meyer and see a huge improvement over real life.

Ugh, phrasing.

I went back and read the very small bit of Obama’s speech that dealt with Trump and it’s every thing that Trump HATES. An educated well spoken black man elected by an enormous majority, and loved by celebrities and sports stars alike, dismissing Trump’s “achievements” and the one thing that he clings to, convinced

Ah, but see there’s the difference! Obama has something that we adults call “A filter”, allowing the person in question to go “I have a thought. Is this thought appropreate for the setting and company I am in? No? Well then, I shall move onto something else” and not just spew whatever random bullshit bubbles up in his

A colleague once declared that “If you don’t know the first rule of Fight Club, you are GAY!”. I took some delight in breaking the news to him about Chuck.

I bought a turntable a few months ago (I’m so, so cool) and while record shopping I’ve discovered that Limp Bizkit’s discography has just been reissued on vinyl. I have no idea who the market is for this. Maybe hipsters five years ago, buying them just for the irony?

Yes, but the Gandhi is Civilization Gandhi.

That actually seems like the only reason for this to exist... Though I think there should also be Gandhi and William Shatner to align with the film. There could also be a horny panda that won’t screw to save its species.

Rule #1 of Fight Club: Make sure you fucking understand the movie before you talk about Fight Club.
