The Field Museum in Chicago had an exhibition on Vikings not long ago and pointed out that the warriors didn't actually wear horned helmets. That was a later meme, as it were, from the 19th century. So what did I see in the museum gift shop? Warrior figurines wearing horns!

He had already become mesmerized by the chanting heard outside the mosque. The chanting, resembling Christian monastic worship, yet no images, have intrigued him.

I keep inquiring but haven't gotten any explanation - what's with the Seer's disfigurement? I would wager that he was disfigured in his youth and thus, not being able to hunt or fight, he entered the priesthood, so to speak. It was a common practice among early peoples. It would also explain his sardonic delivery.

I missed the boy Bjorn, but once he grew up, recasting him was inevitable. Hogh is older, though. Well, we'll see.

He looked like Bjorn to me, but Bjorn is off in the Mediterranean so maybe it's not a warrior approaching the Viking lands.

What network is it on?

You're probably right, but please, another dead lesbian? Can't a girl ride off into the sunset?

That was the first live-action movie I ever saw. I was only 6 and it was vivid and terrifying.

I will have to keep in mind that Magnus is the blond one and Alfred is the brunet.

I watched "The Real Vikings" episode after "Vikings". It dealt with the history of Ragnar and Ivar, with scenes from next week's show, but gee I wish they had announced "Spoiler alert"! Even if you already have an idea of what factually transpired, I don't know to see it before next week.

Excellent idea. If it isn't an amusing or witty one-liner, or an obligatory acknowledgment of someone's passing, it's like writing on the bathroom wall.

She did a cameo on The Danny Thomas Show playing a version of herself, and Danny's wife (he also played a show-business version of himself) finally burst out about how much she envied the Gabor character, "You're so… lucky!" Zsa Zsa responded quietly that it was not fun having to be "on" all the time, having no home

The poor thing was taken off life support and still lived another 10 years.

Long before "Holocaust" we did see some of the footage, though. In 1964 I was at a sleepover and we stumbled across a documentary on what would later be PBS, and I looked from the images of piles of bodies to the faces of my 7th-grade friends, most of whom were Jewish.

Not sure about the Vikings per se, but many bodies of people who were deliberately killed have been found in Scandinavian bogs. In some cases they are believed to have been sacrifices.

Aslaug has aged about 20 years, and she apparently drinks too much. Not good for the complexion.

Also tampons, even if there isn't a bleeding woman in your household.

There's the real civil war: crunchy multicultural Northern California vs. the water-starved southern Calif. thats' been been taken over by Orange County.
