I didn't find it as gory as some people are making it out, but you definitely don't expect the bunnies' world to be "red in tooth and claw".
I read Animal Farm when i was about 11, and it was several years before I found out it wasn't for children and was actually a roman-a-clef about the Soviet Union. That was over 50 years ago, and I still remember the vivid language. The animated version is a total waste.

"The Spider", "The Blob", all those now tacky monster movies. The original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers".
But I bet that bodily slugging someone - your brother - with whom you are enraged is more satisfying than fighting with weapons.
