What’s depressing is, as a game, this sounds interesting. A team based shooter where players can take on roles, strategically so since there’s a pool of gear and weight limits the team has to consider?

No I am right there with you man. Bring on the Craziness! This is a comic book movie and that nuts theory would fit into any comic book plot line without skipping a beat.
You're entitled to your opinion, but I enjoyed the books and the movie very much. If fact, I enjoyed the movie so much that I bought the books, which were better than the movie, and then when I rewatched the movie, I enjoyed it more because I had read the books.
