Slowly. Gently. This is how a dream is broken.
Saying you can track pokemon in game isn’t just a reach, it’s blatantly false. You can see what’s in the area, but there is literally no way to track them. The game was advertised with tracking (even more precise than what they released), therefore when they removed that functionality, they entered into a…
They ignored my emails, but they can’t ignore my chargeback. Fuck them. The game isn't even worth playing when there is absolutely nothing working.
It’s not even a large fan base with a totally different vision that is making such an impact. It's the lack of real functionality in the game and then removing the only viable option for players because they consider it cheating. If the game worked I wouldn't care of pokevision was down, but it doesn't work and…
Well, a huge part of that is Niantic.IIf you look at that reddit thread, a common post from android users trying to get refunds is that they are being directed to send email requests for refunds directly Niantic, but that the listed Niantic email sends back an autoresponse for sending a message to an unmonitored email…
Oh now this is hilarious XD
And thus begins the death of a thousand cuts. Even if only 1% of the active users request a refund, that’s still a significant chunk of change from their bottom line. Keep in mind, not all active users actually pay anything into the system, so that 1% is a larger value dollar wise than it suggests
Hot PIDGEYS are LOOKING FOR CATCH right now in YOUR AREA! *flashy banners*
No, this is an example of a company advertising one thing, people paying for it, then the company changing said thing without communication to its users.
Biggest issue is them asking 3rd party tracking sites to shut down before fixing their own tracking, which has annoyed a lot of players, it is impossible now to search or track a pokemon and if you have no means to find pokemon, there is no point to the game.
This would be totally different if they didn’t have a tracking option at all. Just have a “here’s what you can find in the area” kinda like patches of grass in the games.
Instead it’s ‘We put tracker functionality in, but it broke. However if you use a third party tracker then you’re a filthy cheater.”
I barely touch the app anymore. But good on the people who are complaining they’ve been cheated and are actually doing something about it. They could whine all day but unless they do something substantial, things won’t change. Though I do feel for Niantic. They’re trying to “protect” they’re game and disuade any…
The whole thing is ridiculous. “Oh using third party trackers is cheating. Never mind that it’s because our own tracker is shit.”
People overlooked the problems at first but there are some issues with the game, and removing a feature instead of fixing it isn’t helping.
Well this fad seems to be going bad fast.
Niantic was no different with Ingress back when they were much smaller, they’re terrible towards communication with players.
It’s a shame, really. I enjoy playing the game, and have put about $20 from Survey credits into Go since the start, but will probably refrain from future purchases unless I know it can be put to good use.
Are you faulting players for feeling mislead because features that were present in the app at launch have been removed at a later point without warning?
Hit em where it hurts - the wallet. Maybe it will knock some sense into them.
Niantic has been terrible at communicating with its players. Maybe literally taking money out of their pocket will send a message that they can’t ignore.
