Teachers and students are united in demanding increased funding for COVID mitigation measures. Inadequate funding puts the lives of teachers and students at risk unnecessarily.

It is painfully obvious that TPTB don’t give a single solitary fuck about any of us. They especially won’t be interested in a bunch of minors who can’t donate money to their campaigns. (I initially was going to say who can’t vote for them but they don’t give a fuck about those of us who can vote but don’t donate

Why would they listen to the kids? They don’t even listen to adults whose votes they claim they want.

A large segment of society/politicians (take a wild guess which?) mocked them and treated them as political opposition when they had the audacity to complain about being gunned down in school. It’s only worse now. Children are mostly treated as pawns in the alt political theater.

“Fuck dem keedz.” - GQP

I had exactly 1/3rd of my students absent every day last week. slightly better this week. 100% of my students are not white btw, so that lines up with who you would expect it to hurt.

Yeah.  Here, they opened long enough to spread it and then closed back down again.  Opened, closed a day, opened up again.  Half the teachers are gone though.

We sure as fuck weren’t listening to them when they said all the people jamming the PTA meetings screaming about CRT didn’t even have kids. Not sure why we’d start listening to them now when their needs would inconvenience the parents we’re desperate to get back to work, no matter the cost.

The kids and the teachers are being sacrificed on the alter of capitalism. Businesses must be open! Schools must be open, so the parents can go to work at the businesses.  Yes, some people will get sick, and some will even die, but businesses must open!

Same, and yup. But that would’ve made sense, which is exactly why we didn’t

High school teacher here. It’s insane that we didn’t go remote the first two weeks after Christmas. There would be so many more kids in school today if we hadn’t made them come back so soon after the holidays.

Houston here, and we are sacrificial lambs to the economy. Luckily my district has had a mask mandate all year, lawsuits be damned, but it’s not a perfect system. Students and staff have been periodically out throughout the year, but nothing is ever confirmed. Sometimes we will be informed that someone has it, but

Even in normal times school is framed around what’s best for adults rather than kids: If schools cared that much they wouldn’t have kids waiting for the bus at 6:30am so they could get to school for the start of classes at 8am. Classes would start more like 10am and go until 5ish.

Looking forward to the children of color who protest that historical lessons that feature white slaveholders have to be tossed because it makes them feel bad due to the color of their skin.

This man is evil. Who literally goes out of their way to propose/adopt legislation that hurts citizens (anti-masks /anti public health) and transparently, boldly, proudly fortifies white supremacist ideology (voter suppression, controlling real historical narrative / anti democray & anti public education)? A rotted-sou

THIS.........is everything. After the way Italians, Irish and Poles were treated when they came here to be about that racist against Blacks life shows that these folks aint shit!

The irony being if someone named DeSantis were to have come to America 100 years ago they’d be placed in a ghetto and gotten a taste of Jim Crow.

“An individual should not be made to feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race.”

‘According to NPR, DeSantis said in a conference last month that MLK didn’t stand for people being “judged on the color of their skin but on the content of their character.”’

“don’t make us feel bad for enslaving human beings, but also don’t take down our statues glorifying that time when we enslaved human beings.” Forget crack, cognitive dissonance is a helluva drug LOL.
