So cancelling the classes is a better choice? I’m a teacher: when did I sign up to risk my health and my family’s health for people in this way when alternatives exist? But yeah, it’s just about my “comfort”, certainly not my two young unvaccinated daughters *eyeroll*

The first ask was to improve contact tracing, have metrics for school or district shift to remote if the number of cases gets out of control or there aren’t enough staff to run a particular school, have adequate PPE, and have increased access to testing.

Teachers were the ones proposing alternatives that are proven to work, but Lightfoot decided no classes were better than online classes, then to blame the teachers for kids not getting an education when SHE was the one who cancelled classes rather than letting them be done online.

Nobody involved gives a shit about the teachers or students. This about them trying to break teachers’ unions around the country.
