Once our ‘07 XC90 ceases to make sense, the XC40 Recharge or the Polestar 2 have been on my wife’s radar.  I’m gonna roll with my Fuel Injected Scout ‘til a bolt-in electric option rears its head.  We don’t commute, so the <100mi/wk we put on our vehicles add up slowly.

I’m a day late and a dollar short on this conversation, but I’ll add my anecdote to the masses anyhow. Since I met my wife 6 years ago, she’s made good money (digital recordkeeping) in the $100k to $160K area. I’ve never made more than $45k/yr. Neither of us have owned a brand new car. The newest she’s had was her ‘98

Where in Alaska? Every vehicle I saw in Fairbanks was rust free due to them up there what don't use salt.

A Jolly, candylike button?

Fairbanks, AK only uses sand on the roads due to it being so cold most of the time that salt doesn’t work.  I saw a Bronco II up there that looked like showroom condition, driving around in the winter.

Came from N. California. The only problematic rust spots came from 30 year old rodent nests under the dash and in nooks and crannys, soaking up ambient moisture and rodent piss. The other two binders we had were from N. Minnesota and St. Louis and were accurately represented by your dustpan.

This is the real take here ...

How much did the chin-shelf augmentation for He-Lon's ballsack set you back?

Spare key for the Scout is a buck fifty...

Where do I sit in the convo?

Tell me about rare...

Broncos and TLC's are so overdone...

One big factor in the spread of wildfires in CA is that people neglected to clear years of dead leaves off their roofs.  A stray spark won’t ignite asphalt or clay shingles.

Dad and I replaced the floor on this in ‘93, it was my official 2nd car. Unfortunately, I was required to take our ‘86 Plymouth Caravelle to college, due to my penchant for getting buried in places I shouldn’t have gone.

Our initial plan with my Scout 800 was to restore it enough to drive it until a drop-in electric became an option.  I may not get it running in time.... FML.

Tick-Tock, mf'er!

The TBI FI conversion kit from Hamilton is crazy simple... I haven't installed it yet, but the instructions are really clear.

Converting my Scout 800 to fuel injection and disc brakes will allow for many frustration-free miles. I remember my dad bemoaning the hassle of fiddling with both.

Polestar 2.

My wife loved hers... Sold for $4k a few years ago in like new condition.
