You mean like the shoe company?

This close to ICEs being legally obsoleted, they would not dare develop a new powertrain. It was always going to be more or less off-the-shelf.

They also continued the tradition of “let’s lead everybody into thinking we’re going all-out this time but then deliver something so completely unambitious that it keeps the models from a decade ago looking fresh”.

I take it back, BMW, the new 2-series is stunningly beautiful. THIS is what ungainly truly looks like.

You can’t find a reason because you are being willfully obtuse. Here, let me guide you back to the surface:

How was bringing up the Elise and MR2 Spyder relevant when they weren’t competition for the 4C while all the cars I mentioned above are?

IIRC neither of those cars was a contemporary of the 4C, at least not in the US. The Elise/Exige haven’t been sold here since 2011, the MR2 since 2007.

Corvettes do get refreshes. The C1 had major refreshes in 1955, 1958, and 1961. The C3 had a major face-lift that progressed from 1974 through 1978. The C4 had a one-and-done face-lift in 1991. The C1, C5, C6, and C7 were comparatively short-lived. IIRC, GM has said the C8 is going to be sticking around for awhile,

Why wouldn’t I just buy an A3 Quattro for the price, instead? It’s quicker, it’s as well-built if not better, it’s roomier inside, they are easy to get good deals on, the badge has cachet for those who care, and it’s got insane aftermarket support if I want it. Until the new gen came out recently, it also had no touch

It doesn’t help that Mazda actively shunned the one customer type who was willing spend more for a small car: the driving enthusiasts.

The 4C is significantly more impractical than any other car in its class. Miatas, TTs, Caymans, GT86s, and Corvettes can all carry more to vastly more quantities of stuff if necessary (especially the TT) and are more comfortable while doing it. The 4C is basically useless as a car for anything except getting your ass,

That realization is not going to help them sell more cars if the Mk. 8 is the resulting reaction to it. Yikes.

The biggest issue is looks; it’s plainly a caricature of the 5th generation and lacks any charisma whatsoever. The only good view is the rear three-quarter, and even then it still looks scrunched up.

Imagine confusing Throttle House for The Straight Pipes. Big oof!

This is why I ended up not selling my S3. I have a [still-valid] quote for my car that nets me a $12,000 profit, but what do I buy? I owe $23,000 on this car, what else is as nice for $23,000? I could buy a beater and then just pocket the money I’m not spending every month, but do I want to? Not really.

If for some reason I ended up owning a Tesla, I would stick Maytag badges on it because that’s about as much as it deserves.

First off, that’s a C6 frame. Second, to quote myself from earlier:

I’m going the other way. I’ve just entered my 30s, I have an older Corvette, and I find the C8 repulsive. It’s a technical marvel, but the styling is stagnant and for all its achievement the reviews have firmly painted the picture that it isn’t any more fun on a public road than its predecessors...arguably less so.

Botched facelift. Needs a new surgeon.

Camaro doesn’t need a new platform, just dramatically new styling. Preferably with windows, this time.
