I found my coworker’s doppelgänger in the same damn city we worked in. It was so damn uncanny, I asked him to take a picture, and when I got back to work, I showed my skeptical coworker. Even he was taken aback.

I’ll be damned if I can remember the title now, but this was a major concept in a sci-fi novel I read years ago. The “virtual” construction was sort of an idealized image, not reflecting the actual challenges and modifications the person had gone through, but was still recognizably “them”. Peter F. Hamilton, maybe?

The few times I went to a 3D movie, CGI ALWAYS looked better, because they had better control over the depth.  Even filmed in 3d, if it was live action, it looked flat and depthless to me.

It’s a few weeks. Nobody is MAKING you go see it. I’d be shocked if it doesn’t come back to D+ after the theatrical run if you really want to watch it before the sequel.

I always thought it was FINE, too. It’s not the most stunning writing out there (which Cameron has never been known for), but it’s got big ideas and presents them competently (which Cameron excels at).

This might be the thing that finally gets me to jump into VR.  I skipped everything up to this point, and I don’t have a computer capable of running the the PC headsets.

Games are a different creature than they were 20 years ago. You could spend literal YEARS polishing a game, and never be done. At a certain point, you need to say “by the time it releases, we’ll have the big bugs ironed out, so let’s send it to manufacturing.”
