Even if you read the manual cover-to-cover, you are not going to remember that particular detail because you don’t use that particular function ever. That goes with the assumption that people KNOW that the locks on the car they bought are electronic. That’s an awfully big assumption. You know that the salesman didn’t say jack about the electronic latches. How is the Average Joe who doesn’t know enough about cars to change an air filter going to know about…

There are lot of things to consider when buying a new car, and even more so if buying used. I don’t suspect the average buyer ranks “are the locks electric?” high on the list of questions to ask.

On the list of things that you shouldn’t need a manual to operate, door handles are near the top.
