But if they don’t even check vehicles that old for emissions, one could argue it doesn’t really matter... Eh, it’s confusing.

It’s legal to remove the stuff if the car was built in 1975 or earlier. So some malaise cars can have their smog equipment legally removed. And they’re thinking of raising that to 1983.

Except that around here, anything from 1975 or earlier is exempt from emissions regulations. So for a good several years of smog crap, you can undue that stuff legally. And they’re thinking of raising that to 1983, which would allow all C3 Corvettes to have their smog equipment removed.

Agreed. These are some of the most unique-looking performance cars of the sixties, and they look amazing. I think the hate is just because it’s associated with boomers, and people like to hate on boomers.

And now they won’t even make spare parts... At least they have a few in their museum and stuff. A friend of mine tells me he even got to tour a BMW factory in one!

Subaru of America did deny the existence of the 360 for a long time.”

Yeah, ever since the early days, there’s been a strong “bigger is better” mentality. It was the norm to buy the biggest car you could afford, because size equates to luxury and status, right? Back in the day, people went for the lowest, longest, and widest cars, and now the taste has simply shifted towards buying the

Back in the day, Consumer Reports was full of crap. Pretty much everyone in America was obsessed with buying big cars, and few people were okay with small, foreign cars, not to mention plenty of Americans were still bitter towards the Japanese after WWII and automatically insisted that everything they made must be a

I have an excuse: I don’t want it. I’m happy with my 390 cubic inches of ‘Merican V8 and 10 mpg, thank you very much. It makes the fun vroom vroom burble noises that make me giggle like a deranged schoolgirl when I go out driving. You can convince me all you want that when I feel the instant torque of a 500 hp

Well apparently they actually can be resold but you have to get it re-certified and inspected every 6 months, which makes owning it insanely impractical and inconvenient. Plus, they’re not allowed in big cities for smog reasons. So while old cars aren’t outright banned in China, they make it so difficult to own one

Now the Monza may not have been particularly fast from the factory, but then again nothing else was either without mods, and modding potential for these is actually pretty good. There’s no shortage of mods you can do to get more power out of the small block Chevy V8s, and these cars were very aerodynamic for the time.

Really? Huh. I thought they were just banned. But then again my knowledge of Chinese car laws comes from what a Chinese Jalopnik commenter told me a while back and I can’t read Chinese to check... So thanks for the clarification!

So... Super high-voltage powerful ELECTRIC vehicles racing in the WATER. What could possibly go wrong?

Herbie Fully Loaded. Yes, it has Lindsay Lohan. Yes, the physics are crazy and absurd. It is not the best Herbie movie by any means. But you can’t argue with my nostalgia.

Used cars 15+ years old cannot be resold in China and still be road legal. You can technically keep driving it if you’re the one who bought it within those 15 years, but it has to pass their tough inspections or else it will be considered no longer roadworthy, and good luck getting it re-certified then. So sadly many

This is fantastic. Classic cars are wonderful but banned from Chinese roads, so if these can capture any of the magic that makes classic cars fun, then that can only be a good thing for any would-be Chinese classic car enthusiasts.

Why did I just watch the entire thing... And why do the chipettes sound like men? And holy cow they would not be able to get away with making a movie like this today. The scene with the tribal people alone would spark outrage...

Now don’t you give them any ideas! The increasing number of vehicles with interesting styling is the one thing about EVs I’ve been genuinely enjoying!

He strikes me as more of a Triumph TR6...

Just don’t get too high and crash, we wouldn’t want to see a bloke croak ‘avin a toke with a jamoke in the bespoke woke Moke!
