Heck, I drive a big, ‘60s land yacht and I’m frequently annoyed by how goshdarn tall everything else around me is. It’s so unnecessary. How is it that people look at my car and say “Wow, that’s big”, when if you just take a look around you, you’ll realize it’s really no larger than what 50% of the other people on the

It’s not that I hate trucks, I just don’t like the really big, tall ones. A while ago, I was in a parking lot and on either side of me, there were big pickup trucks. My car was made in the mid sixties, and therefore isn’t particularly tall, so I couldn’t see very far beyond them. When I thought the coast was clear and

Yes. So much yes.

Huh. I couldn’t remember whether the P51 used a Merlin engine or something by Lincoln. In retrospect, the Mustang would probably make a better candidate for a Merlin engine swap since people build crazy-fast drag cars out of Mustangs all the time, so you could probably build one that could handle the power of a Merlin

How ‘bout a 2JZ in a Hudson Hornet? I think 2JZs are cool, but hot rod type things are more my taste, so I figure a classic American car that was famous for winning races with its powerful inline six back in the day would be an awesome candidate for a 2JZ swap.

I’ve been pondering for a while the possibility of joining two W8s at the crankshafts to make my own (sort of) W16. Then I’d cram that unreliable but epic monster into whatever I feel like. Maybe a Miata or something.

Why not just take two v4s and join them at the crankshaft? Things like that have been done with v8s to make v16s, so why not v4s?

A Triumph Spitfire...

I agree with most of what you said, although I’m not so sure about the part about modern cars having longer expected useful lifespans. I find it hard to believe because my current (sort of) daily driver is 53 years old, has been daily driven almost its entire life, and is proving so far to be surprisingly reliable.

These are angular and box-shaped, as off-roaders should be. These are for those who like the utilitarian look and feel of things like old Land Rovers.

Alright, now who’s gonna make these for real? And which brave restaurant should put them on their menu?

That is so pointless but I want it anyway.

Nice! Though my Thunderbird isn’t particularly fast or loud, the 390 v8 still makes some pretty glorious noises. I think old American v8s are probably some of the best-sounding engines in the world.

I love mint. I like the sensation of minty freshness. A while ago, I accidentally got minty shampoo in my eyes and I somehow enjoyed it. More minty things!!!!

Agreed. I (sort of) daily a 1966 Ford Thunderbird. It’s “safety features” include lap belts that do little more than simply keep you inside the car (that is, when they stay latched), it did 0-60 in 11 seconds when new, and it currently gets about 5 mpg. Totally worth it, though. :)

“Chickens: Animal control officials chased hundreds of loosed chickens across Interstate 80 and surrounding areas of San Pablo, California, following a truck accident the morning of September 5. The fowl occurrence happened at San Pablo Dam Road and required officials to close all westbound lanes for hours during

I have mixed feelings about this to say the least. For one thing, it seems like an interesting and useful design, with enough interesting design elements to make it unique. However, it seems like for every interesting aspect that gives it character, there’s another aspect that just makes it seem lifeless and devoid of

Cool looking? Check. Actually old and not just “retro”? Check. Funky engine? Check. Hot rod-y? Check. Orange? Check. Well, this ticks off all of my boxes. NP.

Somehow I didn’t get the joke until I read your comment, and then I laughed.

Some say that the only time they ever heard their parents swear was when they tried to rest their hands in the bottom of the steering wheel and accidentally blew the horn as a result...
