Not sure how to verify the many stories I heard from servers about cash vs card, but I've known a few servers and was always told that they didn't get taxed on their cash tips.

"Hella" is a NorCal construct, to the point that friends that have recently moved here have been alarmed to hear the word spoken so frequently. Once you're looking for it, you'll notice that it's never spoken on tv or in the movies. It's definitely a regional thing.
