The single-engine Gripen has a better safety record than the two-engine CF-18 that Canada currently uses. If the extent of your safety analysis is to count the number of engines, you will get an answer that is simplistic and wrong. The Canadian obsession with two-engine aircraft comes from a very specific fighter from…
Somehow this brings back memories of the Canadian Arrow, what a sad story.
Avro Arrow II pls.
The single engine argument is a moot point. We've proven single engine aircraft are just fine propeller or jet. The F-16 was one of the most successful jet's in history...the guy in the video helped design it and its a single jet engine design.
please cite an example where a single engine fighter commonly just fell out of the sly because it dodnt have a redundancy like a 2nd engine built... Thats the dumbest reason to buy fighter 1 ovwr fighter 2.... Stop speaking on military issues and go back to playong flight sim....
I really hope us British ditch it too, it would've been cheaper to convert the Typhoon for carrier use. I think it's worth it ditching the Harrier type capabilities too.
